Food Packaging Project
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who volunteered for the 2017 Community & Campus Day of Service!!! Over 1,300 volunteers came together to package 180,306 meals and an additional 6,048 pounds of rice for the Eastern Illinois Foodbank and Feeding Our Kids. This would not have been possible without everyone's time and effort, and the support of our many sponsors who provided ingredients, funding, and other resources for the event. Thank you for your participation — as a result of your efforts, families in need in our local community will benefit.
Social media was ablaze with updates throughout the Day of Service! You can find updates and pictures at the following locations: CCDOS on Facebook, Illini Fighting Hunger on Facebook, CCDOS on Twitter, Illini Fighting Hunger on Twitter, and the Twitter hashtags #CCDOS17 & #ILLINOISservice. Feel free to add your own thoughts, comments, and photos to the conversation!
If you enjoyed your experience, please volunteer again! You can find volunteer opportunities through CUVolunteer.org any time, and there are a number of organizations in our community that depend on volunteers to fulfill their missions.
Thank you, and we hope to see you again next year!

About the Project
On Saturday, April 8, 2017, we plan to package 150,000 meals — one thousand for every year of public engagement since the University was chartered — for local foodbanks to be distributed to needy families in Champaign-Urbana.
Hundreds of volunteers are needed for the food packaging project, which will take place on the U of I campus. Several volunteer shifts will be available during the day. If you would like to help out, please register for a timeslot in advance. Space is limited and this project is very popular!
If you have questions about the Food Packaging Project, you can contact us at email@example.com.
On-site check-in for the Food Packaging project will take place in the West Gate at Memorial Stadium, at the corner of First & Kirby.
Limited parking is available at Memorial Stadium, and metered parking is available on many surrounding streets. Check our parking page for more information!
The 100 Yellow bus route will drop you off at First and Stadium, which is just a block away from Memorial Stadium. You can view its Saturday schedule here.
Volunteer registrations are closed for 2017.
If you have already registered for the event, check your email inbox for updates about the event.
If you didn't get the chance to register, we're sorry that we missed you. Space is limited at the event, and we always have more volunteer interest than room at our tables. Please consider consulting CUVolunteer to see other volunteer opportunities in your community. We hope that you will consider volunteering with us next year!
Are you interested in filling a critical need the day of the event by serving as a Day of Service Table Captain? These volunteer leaders oversee 1-2 packaging lines throughout the duration of the Day of Service to help answer questions, guide volunteers in packaging, and generally support efforts in reaching our goal of 150,000 meals! Visit the Table Captain page for more information and to apply!
