The Day of Service was a great success! We met our food packaging goal for the Eastern Illinois Foodbank and other organizations fighting hunger in our community. Learn more on The Food Packaging Project page.

About the Community & Campus Day of Service

You are invited to be part of the Seventh Annual Community & Campus Day of Service. On Saturday, April 6th, you can join together to package 28,000 pounds of food that will be delivered to local foodbanks and food pantries to be distributed to families in need throughout eastern Illinois.

This year, members of the local community and University of Illinois faculty, staff, and students will join forces once again to kick off National Volunteer Week 2019, which will take place from April 7-13. It takes hundreds of volunteers to make this worthwhile event possible, so gather your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and fellow students.

You can select the shift of your choice and register today!

Last year was a huge success and over three hours, more than 1,000 volunteers packaged over 151,000 meals for the Eastern Illinois Foodbank and other organizations fighting hunger. It’s a great way to spend a couple hours on a Saturday morning helping out and making a difference in your community. Here’s more information about the food packaging project!

You can also plan your own community service project and let us know about it!

If you have questions about the Food Packaging Project, you can contact us.

Austin's Day

Centennial High School’s Interact Club is currently organizing the 11th Austin’s Day of Service in memory of Austin Cloyd. Austin was a member of Centennial Interact in high school and known for her service-minded heart. She was killed in the Virginia Tech. shootings, and Interact created this day of community service to honor Austin’s memory.

Interact needs 200 volunteers for this event; shifts run from 9:30-11:30 am, 11:30 am-1:30 pm and 1:30-3:30 pm. Please visit the Austin's Day website to register as a volunteer. You may register as an individual or as a group/family. If you register as a group of up to 8, Interact will assign you to a service project with your group. Interact will be volunteering at non-profits all over Champaign-Urbana that have submitted requests for help.

If you know of other service projects going on during Volunteer Week, please let us know about them!
